Name the primary user and the job they hire the product for
If you cannot say this in one sentence, the MVP is not ready to build.

List must-have flows only
Sign-up, the core loop, and a way to see that it worked. Everything else is a later phase.

Auth and roles you actually need
One role is fine. Multi-tenant and SSO wait until a customer asks with a contract.

Admin for you, not a second product
Users, basic content or records, and a way to disable abuse. Not a full BI suite.

Integrations with a date attached
Payments, email, and one CRM if the product cannot run without them. No ‘and also Zapier for everything’.

Hosting and backups
A real environment, SSL, and who gets paged. Plan a Care / Growth / Dedicated retainer after launch.

Success metric you can observe
Activation or weekly use — not a vanity traffic number. Do not copy another product’s metrics as if they were yours.

Explicit out-of-scope list
Write it down. That list is how you keep the quote honest after discovery.
